11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

In the Room Where it Happens: A conversation with Tosh Ernest, Head of SVB Catalyst 2045

Most consumers dream of being in the room where “it” happened. However, these conversations and the creation stories historically happen behind doors closed to groups across age, gender and race. Join us as our hosts, Claudia Laurie and Madison McIlwain (hosts of the hit podcast ‘The Room’) give us a glimpse behind the door and unravel the untold stories of visionaries shaping industries. Hear firsthand accounts of triumphs, challenges, and pivotal moments as panelists share the wisdom gained in the process of creating and scaling their businesses.

Moderators: Claudia Laurie & Madison McIlwain, Co-hosts of The Room Podcast

Featured Speakers:

Daniel Betts, CEO, Blue Frontier

Tosh Ernest, Head of SVB Catalyst 2045

Hosted by The Room Podcast

Culture Shift

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Culture Shift: Entrepreneurs with Successful Exits

Entrepreneurship is a pressure cooker, with only 25% of newly-formed companies making it to 15 years old or more. Venture-backable startups are worse, with a failure rate of 80% within the first year of their incorporation. To get to the top requires determination, grit, and no small amount of luck. In this conversation with entrepreneurs that have made it, hear more about the steps they took, the teams they built, and what they're doing now that they've reached the vaunted halls of startup success.

SomosVC

2:30 PM – 4:00 PM

Navigating the Market: Insights from Investors on Raising Capital

Join SomosVC on Thursday, December 7th for a panel discussion delving into the intricacies of raising capital in today’s market. Featuring insights from seasoned investors, come listen to their tips and best practices on navigating this dynamic landscape. Whether you're a founder actively fundraising, strategizing for the upcoming year, or seeking industry knowledge as an investor, this event will provide you with actionable insights to take with you moving forward.

The Room Podcast

Claudia Laurie and Madison McIlwain

The Room Podcast is a podcast for anyone who is passionate about consumer and technology products. We believe it is important to bring to life the stories behind the products that shape our world. Most consumers dream of being in the room where “it” happened. However, these conversations and the creation stories historically happen behind doors closed to groups across age, gender and race. In an effort to open the door, the Room is bringing together men and women across ages and races into the conversation on pivotal product stories.

Our conversation with visionary technology leaders is moderated by two digitally native innovators who are challenging the status quo just like the founders and investors we interview.

Not only have Claudia and Madison have been friends for over two years sharing product stories and a mutual love of consumer retail innovation, but they are now a founder + investor duo- Madison is an investor in Claudia's startup.
